Molnar Engineering Car Hoist

Molnar Engineering Car Hoist

Leading Australian car hoist manufacturer, Molnar Engineering, has come a long way in the last five decades. The company has flourished under the guiding hand of Frank Molnar, who started the company from the ground up in 1951.

Now working from huge 100,000 square metre manufacturing facilities in Brompton, South Australia, this hard working Australian business is shining on the world stage.

The company commenced operations as a steering and wheel alignment specialist. At the time, cars were serviced and repaired over pits. The drawbacks to this were the expense and inconvenience of having to install a pit in the ground, the lack of flexibility, in that the pit was a permanent fixture, and the danger of oil and other chemicals leaking into the ground.

Frank Molnar thought there was an easier way. So he invented and patented the two post hoist, which allowed cars to be lifted above the ground, eliminating the need for a pit. Additionally, the adjustable height of the hoist allowed for different heights of users, was easy to relocate, and left no chance of ground pollution.

Today, Molnar Engineering hoists are acknowledged throughout the world as the best car hoists on the market. The company produces a premium range of automotive lifting products, including two-post and four-post hoists, platform lifts, car parking hoists and accessories.

A strong belief in the quality of Australian made products is a guiding principle at Molnar Engineering, which means that the company continues to invest substantially in research and development, and use the latest manufacturing technology in the fabrication of its products.

When it comes to car hoists, quality and reliability are paramount, says Frank. "The quality has to be A1. We are very conscious of that. There is absolutely no room for error when it comes to hoists - the quality has to be built in."

Commitment, quality and the latest technology. That's what Molnar Engineering's customers expect, and it's also what Molnar Engineering expects of its suppliers. Which is why Molnar Engineering chooses to use XLERPLATE® steel coil plate, a brand of high quality hot rolled steel from BlueScope Steel, in the manufacture of its hoists. "We have always dealt with BlueScope Steel," says Frank.

Molnar Engineering produces 250 hoists per month. Each hoist is engineered to meet stringent safety standards and manufactured from a combination of RHS and XLERPLATE® steel coil plate, supplied by OneSteel, one of BlueScope Steel's distributors.

The RHS and XLERPLATE® steel coil plate is delivered at the Molnar Engineering factory already cut to length. Hoist components are then cut into the desired profiles, including required holes and slots, using the latest laser cutting technology.

In order to achieve the desired strength and flexibility, Molnar Engineering use 350 grade XLERPLATE® steel coil plate for the hoists. "We work together with BlueScope Steel to achieve a first-class result," says Frank. "They supply material of an excellent and consistent quality, and we produce a better product because of this. Quality material makes quality products."

"A good supplier is extremely important to the business," says Frank. "Without a good supplier you haven't got a business. We stick with BlueScope Steel, we don't shop around. They are a great supplier, and the quality is there."
